Les crochets sont disponibles en diverses grosseurs et il existe aussi plusieurs systèmes d'identification.

Il est donc parfois nécessaire d'en vérifier la grosseur à l’aide d’un outil de mesure. La jauge questionstricot simplifie cette identification :

- système métrique seulement;

- nombres entiers d'un côté;

- demies de l'autre.

Pour les personnes ayant des problèmes de vision, l'écriture a été remplacée par un système tactile :

la jauge a des ouvertures latérales correspondant aux grosseurs de crochet. Il suffit donc de compter les ouvertures pour identifier la grosseur du crochet

Easy-read crochet hook gauge

Description: laser-cut on transparent acrylic, it has a handle making it easy to hold in one hand. Both sides have horizontal slots with a hole at the end of each slot: count the slots, you know the size!

How to use it: On one side of the gauge, the slots correspond to units (whole numbers) in the metric system, from 1 mm up to 10 mm. If the shaft of your hook fits in the fourth slot, you have a 4 mm crochet hook! On the other side (the handle side) are the half-sizes slots, from 1.5mm to 6.5 mm; same principle: insert the shaft of the hook, count the slots from the top to where your crochet is: this is the size! Are you in the third slot? Your crochet is 3.5mm. If it doesn't fit in the unit nor in the half-size, then it is either a .25 mm. or a .75 mm. depending on the direction, up or down.
